The Power of Serenity Vegas is Disney for adults. There is a palatable air of grown-up play. While for some this means debauchery for others it is opulence for the senses. Vegas offers 24-hour excitement with rarely a moment to rest. A spa treatment might literally be the only down time one has to recover from the overstimulation of Sin City. Alas, this is why Vegas and spas are an ideal combination. And Canyon Ranch’s SpaClub brand has a perfect home on the Strip.

The Journey The SpaClub is located at the Venetian. The hotel has that hectic energy of Vegas. You are met with a mime playing an accordion in the lobby. Arriving hotel guests and bellhops perform an almost synchronized swarming in and out of the revolving doors. The front desk staff has little time to give you clear directions to the spa. Fortunately, I arrived early and was prepared for an adventure. “Down the corridor and make a right at the elevators” are not exactly precise instructions. The entrance is down the main corridor to your right, through the casino, pass the restaurant and jewelers. There you will be stopped at a security desk. Once allowed through, take the elevators to the fourth floor. There awaits another set of corridors. The closer you get to the Spa, the further the din of the city melts into the background. The foyer is bright, crisp and green. The walls along the foyer to the entrance are decorated with rich modern art. And so the soothing of the senses begins. The 20-minute trek to the spa’s front desk brings you to professionally trained staff prepared to welcome guests frazzled from the Alice In Wonderland down-the-corridor experience.

The Treatment The Sea-Esta body treatment began with the feet and back wrapped in warm sea mud. The therapist next massages sea product into the scalp. Hot stones are added to the solar plexus. Special goggles are placed over the eyes as you breathe in ionized sea air. The treatment ends with a mini foot massage. The Sea-Esta does not have the connected flow of a massage. Nevertheless, you will be lulled into a gentle afternoon slumber.

The Bliss Factor Aquavana is the highlight of Canyon Ranch and is included with any spa treatment or with a day pass. It offers single-gender clothing optional or co-ed environments. The Experiential Rains and Igloo were truly unique. Step into the shower and feel the rainstorm as it changes direction and intensity, hear the thunder and the birds, see flashes of colors. The Igloo energizes with mists of cold water and crisp aromas. Serenity!

The Recommendation Get there 50 minutes before your appointment. It might take you 20 minutes just to get to the SpaClub check-in desk. You will need the next 30 minutes to check in, change, shower and relax before your treatment. Don’t forgo the Aquavana. Make sure that you set aside at least an hour to enjoy all the rooms.
